🔍 It's Sunday, time for open homes in Hawkes Bay. What should I be looking for at Open Homes? Here's our top tips, let us know yours below.
1. Natural Light & Ventilation
Take note of sunlight throughout the day – especially in key areas like the living room and kitchen.
2. Cracks, Stains, or Damp
Look at ceilings, corners, and window frames. Fresh paint can sometimes hide issues.
3.Storage Space
Check wardrobes, cupboards, the laundry – is there enough room for your stuff?
4. Doors & Windows
Do they open easily? Any draughts or signs of condensation?
5. Water Pressure
Turn on the taps and shower – no shame! You’re allowed to check.
6. Noise Levels
Can you hear the neighbours? Busy road? Planes overhead?
7. Insulation & Heating
Feel for cold spots. Ask about insulation in the ceiling, underfloor, and walls. Your building inspection will assess and verify it’s up to standard.
8. Off-Street Parking
Even if you don’t need it now, it adds value long-term.
