Reflecting on the last quarter, there’s definitely more confidence in the property market. Sales activity, buyer behaviour and regional momentum are all being shaped by what’s happening in the wider economy. While first home buyers were a little quieter earlier in the year, we’re starting to see more movement again, particularly from upsizers.

As things begin to normalise and in many ways feel healthier than what we’ve seen over the past 4/5 years, there are early signs of growth. That said, there’s still no real certainty around where things head next, especially with ongoing geopolitical tensions and the potential flow on effect to everyday costs and confidence.

It’s a market that’s improving in tone, but still one that needs to be navigated carefully.

After a busy December, lending activity has normalized, indicating steady conditions rather than rapid acceleration.

First home buyers continue to lead the charge, investors are beginning to test the waters again, and more homeowners are choosing longer fixed rates for peace of mind.

Importantly, there’s no noticeable spike in distressed sales, a positive sign of resilience across the market.

The Monetary Policy Committee today agreed to keep the Official Cash Rate on hold at 2.25%. Inflation is expected to be back within our 1-3% target range in the first quarter of 2026.
The economy is at an early stage of recovery, and growth is expected to increase over 2026. Any future moves in the Official Cash Rate will depend on how the economy unfolds.
