Doug was born in Moeraki and resided there for a few years before his family moved to a large farm in the Dansey’s Pass and then to their family farm to Hampden, making Doug a true North Otago local. After leaving Waitaki Boys High School, Doug embarked on the start of an adventurous and varied career, first working on the wheat belt in Western Australia and then onto cattle ranches in America before returning home and settling in North Otago. Doug’s passion is the land and farming, and having personally converted a sheep and beef farm to a deer farm, wintered dairy cows on a run-off property, owned and operated a silage contracting company, and carried out earthworks contracting on farms and land throughout the district, he has an extensive knowledge of all aspects of the agricultural industry. Aside from farming pursuits, Doug has also been a ground crew member for a helicopter company, a job that requires a high level of awareness and attention to detail and dabbled in property development with renovating houses for sale, as he has the ability to see the potential of a run-down house or land and restoring them to their former glory. In his down time, Doug enjoys living on his lifestyle property, hunting, fishing, jet boating on the river, and seeing the back country on his off-road motorcycle. Doug is also a keen traveller throughout New Zealand and abroad. Doug is excited about combining his passion for farming with real estate and with his easy-going personality, he can connect with people from all walks of life.
