Located a short walk from Oban this incredible holiday home boasts 3 bedrooms, 1.5 bathrooms, full modern & well equipped kitchen & epic views down to Halfmoon Bay. This build completed in 2024 has everything you need for a restful stay here on the island and includes a bespoke wood fired sauna - the perfect way to unwind after a day of adventures 😍 We’d love to have you stay & experience the magic the island has to offer.

The new Kiwi Loop track at Five Ferns is now open & ready for nighttime adventures! Grab one of the red light torches provided & head out to see if you can spot a precious Kiwi! This is a 5 minute, easy pace track that is great day or night to explore - our top tips… wait for a cool, calm evening with no full moon - enter the track quietly & choose a spot & wait to hear some rustling & hopefully you’ll be lucky enough to see one! Kiwi love cooler weather & in Autumn/winter you don’t have to stay up too late to wait for darkness! The reviews keep coming! We love hearing all about your stay here at Five Ferns & appreciate you taking the time to give us such lovely comments & feedback. We celebrate one year in business next month & what do you know we are almost fully booked for February! 💗 We love all the seasons here on the island so any time is a good time to book whether you are hitting the trails or you want a tranquil & private space to relax in on your holiday here on Stewart Island. Cook a delicious dinner in the well equipped kitchen, relax in the 2 lounges, pick one of the cosy beds to rest in or delight in the sunshine on the deck whilst being surrounded by native bush & superb birdsong! Good morning from Five Ferns! Did you know that Rakiura means glowing skies? Well now you do and here is a prime example if you get up early (not toooo early!) to witness it! You’ll also be surrounded by delightful birdsong while you sip your coffee and enjoy the first light. Surround yourself in nature here and take a break from the world 💚

Shout out to Christina for taking these amazing photos last week - not too shabby for the middle of winter right?! For some people in NZ right now the fog & inversion layers have been challenging… but just a few hours down the road & ferry or plane ride across to the island is where they have been hiding the sun! ☀️😅 Great time to head over to enjoy the serenity 🥰

📷 Photo 1: The beautiful sign at the base of the steps - you’ve come to the right place! 📷 Photo 2: The amazing ‘Wilderness Window’ where you can shower with the stunning & private view of the lush island bush. You might spot a Kiwi bouncing through! 📷 Photo 3: The skylights in the lounge & kitchen provide lovely light…. lay on the sofa and watch the clouds dance by or at night, peep the twinkly stars from the dreamy Milky Way. We love these features of the property but there are so many more things to enjoy while you stay here!
