JUNIOR SHEPHERD WANTED
Winners of the Tararua Sheep and Beef farm business of the year 2021, this is a chance for a progressive person to join a proven operation full of passion and experience.
The Farm
Glanworth Farming Ltd is a 4th Generation, 1000Ha Sheep and Beef farm situated 15 minutes south-west of Pahiatua, tucked up against the Tararua ranges. We run 9000+SU, including 3700 Romney ewes and 285 breeding Angus cows. Glanworth also has a well-established Angus stud, which sells 70 bulls annually. Livestock systems are delivering repeatable high-level performance through operational management and genetic gain.
The farm has a fantastic balance of flat, rolling and steep country which is complimented by a very good standard of infrastructure. It is summer safe.
The role
• Carrying out daily stock movements and undertake stock related tasks.
• Using FarmIQ in Animal health and pasture management
• Working with stud stock
• Opportunity for variety within the role- some fencing, tractor work required.
• You will be managed by our stock manager but also work alongside the farm owner.
You
Along with the relevant experience you MUST be passionate about agriculture and:
• Be honest, reliable and have good communication skills
• Have 1+ years’ experience (working or cadet), must be able to muster and work independently.
• Ideally have 2-3 working dogs under excellent command
• Must be organised, able to work alone or within a team
• Be willing to learn, upskill and progress within the industry
• Bring a positive, can do attitude and show initiative.
• Be willing to respect our values and business policies
• Have a full NZ driver’s license

Local area
The town of Pahiatua is 15 minutes away and has most things you need-supermarket, farm supply stores, GP, Pharmacy and a great bakery. There are also a wide variety of strong sports clubs- Rugby, Squash, Hockey and Cricket, Netball, as well as a Young farmers club and dog trial club. Palmerston North is only 35 minutes from the farm for everything else.
