📆First-home buyers were the busiest in August, with a little activity from downsizers too. Investors remained fairly quiet. Vendors generally had realistic price expectations and were open to feedback and conversations around pricing, always a good sign in a changing market. Open homes were quieter than usual. Overall, the market is still in a bit of a “let’s wait and see what happens” mood, with the election adding to the cautious approach. Looking ahead, we’re expecting more properties to come to market over the next few months. Perhaps a few returning Kiwis from Australia could add some extra buyer activity.

📆First-home buyers remained the most active group in July, while overall buyer activity was fairly cautious.
🏡 Vendor expectations were generally aligned with the market, with some sellers adjusting their expectations to secure a sale.
👀 Open home attendance was slow overall, although new listings attracted some interest at their first open homes.
There’s still a “wait and see” feeling in the market, with some sellers holding off until spring and buyers taking a cautious approach.
🔮 Looking ahead, local salespeople are cautiously optimistic that the market could gain momentum towards the end of the year.
