From its roots within a mahinga kai network of wetlands and waterways across Ōtautahi, to its early European settlement in the 1850s, the area reflects a long connection between people and place.

The name Ururepo, gifted by Ngāi Tūāhuriri, meaning “west of the swamplands”, continues that story today, grounding the development in the landscape it sits within.
