Queenstown was lucky to host the first South Island meeting of the Body Corporate Chairs Group yesterday!

Really interesting chats about maintenance, repairs, and how Body Corps work , it’s an important topic for apartment owners and agents alike.

Great to hear from Ben Thompson, a Unit Titles and Body Corporate law specialist based in Wānaka, and from Edward Ring at Thermosash on building maintenance and façade solutions.

And a fun bonus, catching up with my old Queenstown tennis rival, Kirstin Mitchell whose company, Elite Management, is doing awesome work in the local Body Corporate space.

Always love seeing great people sharing ideas and expertise in our community!

It may not feel like spring this week, but here's a great article by Bayleys Real Estate head of data & insights, Chris Farhi on how to make your house sale standout in the current spring market.

If you're thinking of selling this spring, contact me for an appraisal.

Spring’s arrival usually signals renewed hope for vendors, but 2025 has proven anything but predictable. With an oversupply of listings and buyers behaving cautiously, simply putting up a “For Sale” sign is no longer enough.

This weekend marked 40 years of The Remarkables ski area, an incredible milestone for one of Queenstown’s most iconic mountains. How times have changed. Originally, the ski area cost was just $12M construction; today, the new Shadow Basin lift alone cost $23m! The Remarkables (affectionately known by many as The Country Club) has always been more than just a ski field, they’re part of what makes Queenstown such a special place to live, work, and play. Great seeing plenty of old friends who have been part of growing the legend over the last 40 years! Talk about time flies…. Fun fact: before becoming a real estate agent, I was a ski instructor up there! That passion for the mountains and local lifestyle has never left me, and it’s the same energy and dedication I bring to helping people find their place in Queenstown today. Here’s to 40 years of carving turns at The Remarkables, and looking forward to seeing the long-awaited plans for the Doolans coming to fruition.

Daylight savings is here, Queenstown! Longer evenings mean more time to soak up those views, take a lakeside stroll… or sneak in a few extra open homes.

In real estate, light matters! And there’s nothing like seeing a property in its best golden-hour glow.

Here’s to sunnier showings, late-evening chats on the deck, and Queenstown properties looking their very best.

The New Zealand property market is showing strong signs of renewed energy heading into spring, driven by improving economic conditions. A key factor is the Official Cash Rate (OCR) dropping to a three-year low of 3.0%, with predictions it may fall further. This is a significant shift from 5.25% just a year ago.

This has led to more favourable conditions for borrowers, including:
Lower bank test rates and mortgage rates (around 4.72% for 1-2 year terms).
Faster loan approval times.

Incentives like cash contributions and discounts on construction lending.
The market's performance varies by region. Auckland house prices have fallen to their lowest point in over four years, while Queenstown Lakes remains resilient with stable prices and a 25% annual increase in winter sales.

Big news for Frankton! 🏡✨

The two-bedroom homes at Kawarau Villas are now completely sold out — a clear sign of how much demand there is for quality, attainable housing in Queenstown.

That means the spotlight is now on the last remaining three-bedroom terraces, starting from $969,000. With the first homes nearly ready and a brand-new show home opening this weekend, it’s the perfect chance to step inside and see what life here could look like.

Frankton is growing fast, with new parks, schools, and transport links on the way — making this a great time to secure a home in this thriving community.

📅 Show Home Open Day:
📍 9 Juniper Place
🕛 Saturday 27 September, 12–2pm

Frankton’s future is taking shape and buyers are moving fast

Another great evening of networking thanks to the Queenstown Business Chamber of Commerce! Such a good mix of people and conversations, I think it's important to keep up with what is happening in the wider business community.

One of the great parts of Chamber events is finding new places in Queenstown that I have not visited before.

This month’s BA5 was at Kingpin Queenstown and what a fun place it is. Arcade games, virtual darts and even a karaoke room. I will definitely be back. It is perfect for parties, events or just something fun to do on a rainy day.

Thanks Jonny James Photography for the pic.

Following the relaxation of overseas buyer rules, data from One Roof shows that Queenstown-Lakes has emerged as the country’s second-largest market for properties that meet the revised threshold.

For overseas buyers looking for a slice of Queenstown, having a New Zealand bank account can make the transaction process considerably smoother. Most banks in New Zealand require accounts to be opened in person, so visitors considering a purchase should arrange this while you're in the country. Beyond the purchase itself, a local bank account also assists with the ongoing management of properties, including those intened for visitor accommodation.
