We’re excited to share that the Money Matters Programme is coming up – a 5-week kaupapa Māori financial literacy wānanga designed to support whānau to achieve financial wellbeing, run by Te Taumata o Ngāti Whakaue

This programme is created with a Māori lens, weaving in Te Arawa pūrākau from kaumātua, and whakapapa to guide financial learning.

You’ll gain the skills to:
Build a positive money mindset
Create and manage a budget
Control debt
Understand credit records
Set up banks and emergency funds

🌿 He mihi tēnei ki a tētahi o ā tātou kaimahi, Linda🌿

We wish to acknowledge and honour Linda Carroll, who passed away on 27 November 2025. We extend our sincere condolences to her whānau.

Linda joined Ōwhata Kōhanga Rākau Housing in June 2024 and, during her time with us of just under 11 months, played an important role in helping to establish key systems, processes, and operational foundations. She was deeply passionate about the OKR kaupapa and brought a wealth of experience and insight, which greatly supported the set-up of our operations.

Her contribution helped lay the groundwork that continues to guide and support our work today.

Although Linda is no longer with us, the impact of her mahi remains. What she gave in those early days is still reflected in the kaupapa, the progress made, and the direction we continue to take.

We wanted to take the time to acknowledge Linda and the role she played in helping this journey begin. We also send lots of aroha to Linda’s husband, Taut, and her whānau during this time.

What an incredible day we had at our Whānau Day , full of laughter, connection, and kotahitanga. Days like this remind us what makes our papakāinga so special ✨ our people, our whānau, our village.
