Brian is the principal and managing director of PRL Enterprises Ltd, t/a PRL Rural which formerly operated under the brand of Pastoral Realty Limited. He entered real estate in 1988 after a 25-year period in the farming industry, the last 16 years of which involved farming on his own account in the Waikato and Hawkes Bay regions. For the first 4 years (from 1988) Brian worked with the Professional
s Real Estate Group based in Hamilton, and in 1992 was awarded the Rural Salesperson of the Year for the Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Gisborne District of the REINZ. Massey University studies commenced in 1992 and concluded with a Diploma of Business Studies (Real Estate) in 1993. It was during this time Brian established Pastoral Realty, with the primary focus of specialising in rural sales. Advanced management studies were completed at Massey University during 1999 and 2000. Apart from the specific points of focus on rural initially, then residential subsequently, the platform for establishment of the company was based very much on Brian’s stance on ethical values, with particular emphasis on integrity, professionalism and communication at all levels. Those values have an equally strong emphasis today. The company moved to purpose-built premises in Te Awamutu in 1995 with that location continuing to be the base for rural and residential operations until early January 2020. An additional office was established in Cambridge in 2010, with both offices operating in tandem until the business component of the company was sold in early January 2020. The ownership of the company was retained with a change in the company name to PRL Enterprises Limited in 2021. PRL Enterprises Ltd, t/a PRL Rural, with a specific focus on the rural and lifestyle sector, now operates from highly efficient office premises based in the Tamahere district, midway Hamilton and Cambridge. Real Estate industry representation commenced in 1994 when Brian was elected to the REINZ regional committee for the Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Gisborne District. His 9-year involvement included two years as District President. For a period of some years during that time, he was also instrumental in organising a number of very successful rural seminars for the REINZ. In 2012, he was appointed rural spokesperson for New Zealand for the REINZ, a position he held until the end of 2022. He was also the incumbent chair of the REINZ National Rural Sector Group, and from 2017-2020 completed a 3-year term as one of the industry representatives on the Real Estate Authority Rural Sector Advisory Group. During his term in real estate, Brian, Pastoral Realty and now PRL Rural, have established a reputation as being amongst the top rural real estate practitioners in the country, with acknowledged expertise in the specific marketing of the full range of rural properties. His extensive track record and widespread referral network amongst banks, solicitors, accountants and other rural professionals are testament to his ability and reputation for transparency of activity combined with a determination to maintain the highest standards possible within the industry.
