Tenants - do you have an emergency kit sorted?

Emergencies can happen without warning, whether it's a power outage, severe weather, or another unexpected event. Having an emergency kit ready can make all the difference.

Keep your kit stored in a sealed container or backpack somewhere easy to access, and consider including:
✅ Bottled water (at least 3 litres per person, per day)
✅ Non-perishable food
✅ Torch and spare batteries
✅ Portable phone charger or power bank
✅ First aid kit
✅ Essential medications
✅ Blankets or warm clothing
✅ Battery-powered or hand-crank radio
✅ Copies of important documents in a waterproof bag
✅ Pet food and supplies (if you have pets)

It's also a good idea to check your kit every 6 - 12 months and replace any expired items or flat batteries.

It is one of those small jobs that is easy to forget, but it can make a big difference! Hair, soap scum, and other debris can build up in the drain catcher over time, slowing the water flow and eventually causing blockages.

A quick clean every few weeks will help:

🫧 Keep your shower draining properly.

🫧 Prevent unpleasant smells.

🫧 Reduce the risk of costly plumbing issues that could become your responsibility if the blockage is caused by a build-up of hair or debris that hasn't been cleared.

It only takes a couple of minutes to remove the hair from the drain catcher, give it a quick rinse, and pop it back in place.

🪟 Open your windows every day to let fresh air circulate throughout your home.
💧 Wipe moisture off windows and sills each morning to prevent water build-up.
🌬 Always use extractor fans when cooking or showering.
👕 Dry washing outside whenever possible, rather than indoors.
