Well said Joe Tucker:
If you're not ready for sh*t to go sideways, you’re not ready for property investing.
I've learnt the hard way: every deal starts off with a buzz.
I’m excited, full of hope, maybe a little too optimistic… And then BAM
Reality shows up uninvited.
Tenants stop paying. Tradies vanish. Unexpected repairs pop up like potholes in Sydney
You’d think by now I’d stop being surprised. But every single time, I catch myself saying, “Why is this happening?”
Like I didn’t just sign up for this rollercoaster!
Truth is, if you’re walking into property with your eyes shut, hoping for smooth sailing, you’re gonna get knocked flat.
It’s like buying a puppy and getting upset that it chewed your shoes. You wanted the cute bit, but forgot there’s doo doo to clean up too.
So now, before I even begin a project, I sit myself down and have a little talk. I Iook at what could go wrong and evaluate why I'm doing it.
"Hey Future Joe. Congrats, you're properly scaling your portfolio, you legend! I know right now it feels messy, but remember you knew this was coming. The stress, the obstacles, the tenant who’s ghosting rent, all of it. None of this is a surprise. So breathe, keep your cool, and trust yourself to figure it out. You’ve done it before. Just remember, you bought the right location and this $2K issue is nothing compared to the $100K+ you're going to make in the next 12 months"
It’s not about pretending things are fine.
It’s about knowing they’ll get messy, and not wasting your energy being shocked when they do.
This game isn’t for everyone, and that’s exactly why it pays. You’ll get the results because you’re the one pushing through when others quit.
