Since the new pet rules kicked in on 1 December 2025, landlords can no longer just say no to pets without a good reason. This article shares a real Tenancy Tribunal case that shows how these decisions are being made in practice — worth a read if you own a rental! 👇

A few key things to know as a landlord:
🐶 Tenants must request pet consent in writing
✅ You must respond within 21 days
❌ Blanket “no pets” policies are no longer enforceable
💰 You can charge a pet bond of up to 2 weeks’ rent
