The latest REINZ market statistics for Wanaka are out for the month of February 2026. Residential housing, once again, saw a median price rise compared to the same period last year, sitting at $1,750,00 this is 13% higher than February 2025. Volumes were also 24% higher sitting at 51 sales for the month. For residential sections, the average price per square meter was $886, slightly lower than February 2025 by 11%. Residential section sales were up 38% to 18 sales for the month, and average days to sell was 185 days.

The latest REINZ market statistics for Wanaka are out for December 2025. Residential housing, once again, saw a 4% increase in the median price compared to the previous December. This marks the 5th consecutive median price rise - an emerging trend. There was also positive movement in the average days on market for residential housing which tallied 88 days for the month. This is down 14% compared to the same month the prior year - and markedly down on previous months throughout 2025. The latest REINZ market statistics for Wanaka are out for the month of November. Residential housing, once again, saw a substantial increase in the median price year on year, even though volumes were slightly down. We also saw a large increase in the average price per square meter for sections, touching $1000/sqm. As the market starts to build momentum, we are also seeing days on marketing moderate, as has been expected for some time. Days on market for residential housing is down to 80 days and for residential sections 122 days, it’s pleasing to see these numbers continually reduce and is a sign of positive market sentiment amongst both buyers and sellers. On Wednesday the Reserve Bank of New Zealand has announced a further 25bps reduction to the OCR, taking it to 2.25%. They have stated that consumer prices increased to 3% in the September quarter, but the economy is still under-performing on many fronts, warranting the reduction to the official cash rate.

The RBNZ stated that risk to this outlook remains balanced and further easing will be dependent on how the New Zealand economy evolves and inflation over the medium-term.

The latest statistics are out for Wanaka’s real estate market for the month of October. Residential housing has once again shown increases in both the total number of sales and a substantial increase year on year in the median price.
