🐟"Fish, 🐝Honey &🍋Lemons, Grateful for Local Abundance"✨
One of the things I truly love about living here in Ferry Landing is the sense of abundance that seems to flow so naturally. Friends turning up with beautiful hunks of fresh tuna, smoked fish, or even crayfish… and wonderful Neighbours generously sharing their lemons and avocados.
We head down to the beach or wharf for a bit of fishing, or out on a boat, and bring back dinner straight from the sea.
Even the local fishing club adds to the mix, hubby sometimes comes home from the raffles with a big hunk of meat, which is a lucky bonus.
And to top it off he has taken up a new hobby of beekeeping, so hoping to get our first lot of honey this year. 🐝🍯YUM!

🌅“Sunrise Beside Shakespeare Cliff — Front Beach Bliss” — Gratitude Moment #2 🌅
One of the things I love most about living here is how the day begins. Just a short walk to Front Beach to watch the sun rise over Shakespeare Cliff feels like pure magic.
We’re so fortunate to enjoy this year-round — not just a holiday treat.
I call my morning walk my “nature gym”: starting with a climb up Maramaratotara to the first lookout (guaranteed to get the heart pumping), then down to the beach for squats and push-ups using the rocks and trees. It all finishes with the best part… a refreshing swim to reset body and mind.
I’d love to say I do this every morning — truth is, I am very inconsistent. ” Maybe I just need a few buddies to make it a proper ritual. Anyone keen to join me for a nature gym session + sunrise swim? 🌊✨
Gratitude moment #2. There’s something about swimming as the first light hits the water that feels almost otherworldly — peaceful, refreshing, and just the best way to start the day.

🚤 The Best Five-Minute Commute Ever — Gratitude Moment #1 🚤
For most people, going into the CBD means battling traffic, staring at brake lights, and arriving already frazzled.
Here in Ferry Landing, our “CBD” is the Central Business District of Whitianga — and we get there in style… by ferry.
In just five minutes, I can be across the harbour and within walking distance to all the essentials of life, right there on the other side.
The ferry runs 365 days a year and the skippers are always welcoming — often greeting you by name and sharing a smile or a quick chat.
And the ferry ride itself? Always an adventure. Some days you’ll spot a seal sunbathing near the wharf, other days stingrays gliding below — and if you’re really lucky, an orca passing through to remind you that this is no ordinary trip to town.
Gratitude moment: Every time I step onto that ferry, I think how lucky we are to live somewhere where the “daily commute” feels like a mini holiday. 💙

🌊 Why I Love Living in Ferry Landing, Working in Cooks Beach & My Gratitude Moments 🌊

When I moved here two and a half years ago, I knew it was special… but I didn’t realise just how special until I started living the day-to-day magic.

From the beaches to the bush walks, the coffee spots to the friendly hellos — there’s something here that makes you slow down, smile more, and breathe easier.

So, I’m starting a little series: “Why I Love Living in Ferry Landing, Working in Cooks Beach & My Gratitude Moments” 💙
Each week, I’ll share a photo and a story about something that makes this place so wonderful — the kind of insider details I love sharing with buyers when I’m selling local homes.

And because gratitude is a big part of my life, I’ll also share those little “thankful moments” that make me think, yes… this is exactly where I’m meant to be.
