About The Floating Eco Home
This floating Eco home was designed to take advantage of the thousands of peaceful bays that we have in Bocas. With a shallow draft of little over a foot you can anchor anywhere within reason. You are floating while minimally impacting the environment and with the glass walls offering scenic views of the surrounding day and night. The floating platforms are only built
with concrete and Styrofoam; this is a common construction method that insures they won’t sink. “The floating platform is engineered to be unsinkable and therefore insurable. These platforms are solid construction made with a concrete shell and a Styrofoam core. The platform has positive flotation and will not sink under any conditions, whereas a hollow vessel can fill with water and sink. The technology is comparable to a cork in that it won’t sink regardless of how many holes you poke in it. There is no maintenance necessary below the water line. The superstructure is of hardwood timber frame, plywood, fiberglass and stucco. The same as any structure built on a concrete slab but keeping in mind the nautical theme. All pluming is self contained including the sewage treatment. Power is generated buy solo panel energy and generator back up. You have good pressure hot and cold water and wifi connection if you want it. In today’s day and age we are beginning to take Eco-living for granted, which is as it should be given the sophisticated technology we have at our disposal. We can live in the heart of the wildernesses, enjoying every moment of it without leaving a foot print. This is what we have aimed for and a have achieved. One is living with nature at its best while still enjoying the comfortable living standard that we as humans have become accustomed to. You are out there in the wild but you could feel and think you where in your Manhattan apartment. Our short and long range goal is to reduce the construction coast so that the Eco homes are affordable for most of us. We aim to do this by using recycled and only locally available materials but while keeping the aesthetically pleasing look to our homes. The specifications are as follows:
