🚧 Traffic Engineering Study – Erima Corridor

A detailed traffic count survey and data acquisition exercise was undertaken at Erima Funeral Home, commissioned by RMA Holdings Limited and executed under MMI Civil Solution.
The survey captures existing traffic flow characteristics, including peak hour volumes, directional distribution, vehicle classification, and turning movement counts (TMCs). This dataset forms the baseline input for subsequent traffic impact assessment (TIA).
The collected data will be integrated into SIDRA Intersection software for microsimulation modeling, capacity analysis, and Level of Service (LOS) evaluation to assess the operational performance of the adjacent road network.
The study specifically informs the design of a proposed carpark expansion and auxiliary slip lane, incorporating geometric design considerations, intersection control strategies, and traffic demand forecasting.
Outcomes will include evidence-based engineering recommendations focused on optimizing traffic circulation, minimizing delay and queuing, enhancing safety performance, and improving network efficiency in accordance with relevant traffic engineering standards and guidelines.

We are pleased to present the completed Hydrologic and Hydraulic Assessment for Yatra Bridge, located along the Kiunga–Tabubil Highway in Western Province, Papua New Guinea. The study applied LiDAR‑derived Digital Elevation Models, detailed 1,255 ha catchment delineation (25 sub‑catchments), and HEC‑RAS hydraulic modelling in accordance with the PNG Flood Estimation Manual (2018), AS 5100, and Austroads guidelines. The 100‑year AEP design event identified a peak flow of approximately 108 m³/s, maximum flood level of RL 48.76 m, flow depths of up to 3.83 m, and velocities reaching 4.17 m/s at the bridge crossing. A comprehensive scour assessment confirmed contraction and local scour as governing mechanisms, with a total potential scour depth of approximately 3.0 m, informing targeted rock riprap and gabion protection measures. The report provides a robust technical basis to confirm hydraulic adequacy, manage flood risk, and enhance the long‑term resilience and safety of this critical transport link in a high‑rainfall tropical river environment.

A site survey was carried out using a DJI Matrice 350 drone combined with GPS control to accurately measure and record the existing conditions of the site. The drone captured detailed aerial images and spatial data, while GPS points were used to ensure all measurements were correctly positioned on real‑world coordinates. This information was used to map ground levels, structures, and key site features, which are required for a Civil As‑Built Design. All data collected was checked and verified to meet engineering survey standards, ensuring the final outputs are accurate and reliable. The results provide a clear and precise record of how the site currently exists, allowing engineers to confirm designs, assess construction accuracy, and support future civil works. The project was completed for Leon Hardware and delivered under contract to MMI Civil Solutions.

🌉 Technical Hydrological & Hydraulic Assessment – Yarta Bridge Project

MMI Civil Solution was engaged by Teyewai Investment Properties Limited to undertake a hydrological and hydraulic assessment for the proposed Yarta Bridge.
The scope involved detailed catchment delineation, flow estimation, and flood frequency analysis to establish design discharge parameters.
Using GECRAS hydraulic modelling, we simulated channel geometry, flood behaviour, and energy grade line profiles to evaluate hydraulic performance under multiple design storm events. Model outputs informed the determination of the required bridge waterway opening, deck soffit level, and cross‑sectional geometry to ensure conveyance capacity, structural resilience, and compliance with design standards.
This technical assessment provides an evidence‑based foundation for the bridge’s conceptual and detailed design phases.
