What does the Open House party format mean?

Usually, when you come to a party, you expect that the host will prepare something for you. There will be food and activities. So basically, the host is the organizer, and you mostly consume.

The open house format is the one where we create the event altogether. Yes, there will be food, and you can enjoy Sun Xi amenities like the swimming pool, gym, board games, and kids' playground.

However, we encourage you to actively participate in that too. Cook the food you like the most and share it with people around at our party. Suggest games for others to play. Or just share a good mood with others.

What is ‘The Community Oasis Co-Operative (COCO)’?

The concept is to nurture and develop the existing beautiful and rich natural resources of the local people, flora and fauna in their own environment, and with an ‘all for one, one for all’ approach, each person doing their fair share of the work and whilst reaping the rewards of the beautiful environment.

The long-term goal for the future is to create a members only permaculture eco-living community, made up of 12 self contained units.

The current focus is nurturing and hub of the site, made up of:

’The Barn’ (that includes on site shop, co-living play, lounge, work, cooking and eating/drinking cafe area)…

’The Pools/Spa & Garden’ area

’The Main Villa’ (that includes two twin bedrooms; one family bedroom with ensuite and study; lounge, dining and kitchenette area; gym, whirlpool bath and private garden)

Creating an eco-village like place where residents, immediate neighbours, and those strongly associated with us for the past 20 years can come and enjoy use the facilities, and help with general upkeep.

Our story from where we left off, until now...

Sadly, Sun Xi had to shut it’s doors to guests back in 2020 during Covid 19. You may remember following the disaster that was Covid, we were also struck by ‘Typhoon Rai/Odette’ in December 2021, which caused catastrophic damage to parts of our site. The combination of these two things meant that we have been unable to welcome guests here at Sun Xi for the last 6 years.

Since then, we have had to think of a new creative solution for how we move sustainably forward, and what the future of Sun Xi looks like.

Over the next few days we will introduce you to our plans, and give you all the details on an exciting event we have coming up...
