LOOK: The project along Carantes St. is beginning to take shape, showing an aesthetic and appealing appearance even in its current state. Imagine how much more impressive it will be once the construction is fully completed.

The ongoing streetscape development includes the rehabilitation of the entire stretch of Carantes St. and the improvement of a portion of Perfect St. It is a collaborative work by the City Planning and Development Office (CPDO), the City Engineering Office (CEO), the City Buildings and Architecture Office (CBAO), and the City Environment and Parks Management Office (CEPMO).

The said the project aims to create a ‘pleasant environment’ where people will be involved in "different social, cultural, and tourism activities."

The rehabilitation of Carantes St. includes the incorporation of tactile blocks; rehabilitation of the existing drainage; and the installation of solarized road studs, solar powered bollards, chair bollards, solar power lamp posts, steel grates for water run-offs, and a temperature box scanner.

The project was given the Notice to Proceed (NTP) on September 19, 2023 after the first contractor was terminated by the city government due to unsatisfactory work and slippage accumulation.

The project is expected to be finished within the year. The tentative date for its inauguration is June 1, 2024. -J.G.H.

DRY SEASON PA RIN 🥵

Despite the rainy weather in some parts of the country, the highest computed heat index reached 50 degrees Celsius in Dagupan, Pangasinan on Monday, according to PAGASA.

In Metro Manila, a heat index of 45 degrees Celsius was experienced at NAIA, Pasay.

Ana Liza Solis, PAGASA climate monitoring and prediction section chief, has said the worst is over in terms of the record-high temperatures and searing heat, with many areas in the country possibly experiencing thunderstorms in the second half of May.
