The city government recently declared March 4-6, 2026 as the 9th International Farm Tourism Conference Philippines in the city with the theme βHighland Harvest: Cultivating Sustainable Tourism and Agriculture.β
Under Executive Order No. 16, series of 2026 signed by Mayor Benjamin B. Magalong, all concerned local government departments and offices must extend support to this endeavor.
The City Tourism, Culture and Arts Office was tasked to arrange all necessary requirements for the welcome dinner on March 6, 2026 and serve as city level coordinator for offices, groups and individuals while the City Budget Office shall identify an appropriation for the expenditures that the project may entail given that this not a scheduled activity of the city, yet of great significance to development aspects of the different sectors.
The Baguio City Police Office shall devise and implement an operation plan for security, traffic management and VIP es**rt and round-the-clock security for the delegates and the areas identified as program venues while the City Buildings and Architecture Office shall allow the 9th International Farm Tourism Conference organizers to post, free of charge, advertising materials in the main thoroughfares of the city.
Further, the City Veterinary and Agriculture Office shall demonstrate active participation during the conference by allowing concerned officers or personnel from its office to register and participate during the events and assist in the distribution of invitations to the conference to farm tourism stakeholders, including, but to limited to, farm owners, farmers, aquaponicists, aquaculturists, gardeners and other farm enthusiasts and encouraging them to register and participate as well, while members of the City Council Committee on Market, Trade and Commerce and Agriculture shall attend the conference.
The City Health Services OfficeβEmergency Medical Service shall provide standby medical and emergency response personnel and when necessary, join the convoy with the delegation or remain on call to respond to any emergency situation while the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office shall provide standby medical and rescue services.
The City Public Information Office was tasked to cause the widest dissemination of the conference activities and ancillaries and enlist various media outlets whenever applicable to cover the events.
The order added that concerned national government agencies, businesses and the private sector shall extend all cordialities for the success of the aforesaid conference. By Dexter A. See
