𝘓𝘪𝘵𝘴𝘦𝘢 𝘭𝘦𝘺𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘴 𝘔𝘦𝘳𝘳., locally known as Batikuling, can be found within the confines of the Bataan Natural Park, as well as in other forests of Central Luzon.

This evergreen tree can reach a height of 25 meters, growing relatively slowly even under a full sun. The wood of the Batikuling is strong and endures for a long time, due to its monoterpene content, which makes it naturally resistant to termites and other wood-destroying bugs.

Sculptors prize wood from the Batikuling due to its property of being able to be carved smoothly even down to the most minute details. However, indiscriminate logging and slash-and-burn practices have rendered the Batikuling endangered.

Help us plant and save these native trees to keep them . Contact the nearest DENR office in your area to report any illegal forest activities and to know more information on how you can help in our country’s reforestation programs.
