‼️ SM Prime Holdings is expanding three shopping centers in the Philippines, adding 70,000 square meters of gross floor area across key provincial hubs by the fourth quarter of 2026.
The Sy-led property giant is focusing the expansion on SM City Iloilo in Western Visayas, SM City Sto. Tomas in Batangas, and SM City Naga in the Bicol Region.
“The cities of Iloilo, Sto. Tomas, and Naga are major economic hubs in their respective regions, with strong potential to attract more businesses and investment,” SM Prime president Jeffrey C. Lim said. “Through these mall expansions, we aim to support their continued growth by creating more opportunities for MSMEs, generating local employment, and contributing to stronger communities.”
The largest project, SM City Iloilo North Block, will add 35,000 square meters of gross floor area to a mixed-use complex featuring essential retail, medical services, covered multi-level parking, and a National University campus.
At SM City Sto. Tomas in Batangas, a new third level spanning more than 26,000 square meters will accommodate a dedicated Trade Hall, co-working spaces, visual installations, dynamic entertainment concepts, and additional surface parking.
Meanwhile, SM City Naga will undergo a two-storey, 9,000-square-meter enhancement that will include a roof deck extension, expanded parking, and redeveloped tenant areas designed to improve circulation.
All three projects will incorporate solar panels, electric vehicle charging stations, and water-efficient systems. Hiring priorities will also be given to local residents, further supporting employment and economic activity in the surrounding communities.
