“You can have 30 years of experience…
and still fail the test of humanity.”
Because experience means nothing
If people dread experiencing you.
I once met a manager with two decades of experience.
Sharp. Skilled. Respected.
But he left a trail of broken spirits wherever he went.
He could quote leadership books,
but couldn’t remember his assistant’s name.
He could manage projects,
but couldn’t manage his tone.
And every meeting felt like walking barefoot on glass.
That’s when I realized —
Years of experience don’t automatically make you wise.
They just make you older.
See, some people collect experience the way others collect souvenirs.
Pretty to display, but empty of empathy.
They’ve mastered systems, not self-awareness.
They’ve led meetings, not humans.
But here’s the truth —
If you don’t know how to treat people with respect,
Your résumé becomes a receipt for wasted years.
The problem?
Too many professionals think experience equals entitlement.
They forget that leadership isn’t about authority —
It’s about authenticity.
The solution?
Replace your ego with empathy.
Because people don’t remember your credentials —
They remember how you made them feel.
The benefit?
When you lead with kindness, people don’t just follow your orders —
They follow your vision.
So what?
Experience teaches you what to do.
Empathy teaches you how to do it without breaking others in the process.
Now what?
Start treating people as humans, not headcounts.
Start listening more than you lecture.
Start realizing — the way you treat people is your legacy.
Because at the end of the day…
No one will care how long you worked.
They’ll care how well you worked with them.
