AREA ATTRACTIONS

Barangay Tiring is the second barangay in the municipality of Cabatuan from the town of Santa Barbara. It is along the national road that ends up in the provinces of Capiz and Aklan in the northern island of Panay in the region of Western Visayas, the center of the Philippines. It has a population of approximately 2,300 and is about 4 kms from the town proper.

Tiring is also an historic barangay. The Tiring Military Landing Field, built by the U.S. Army in the middle of the plain west of the barangay, was the nerve center of the U.S. Air Force Operations for the Visayas and Mindanao regions during the War of Liberation against Japan in WWII. It was primarily liberated by the Western Visayan guerillas on March 21, 1945 after 45 days of bloody fighting. By twist of fate, this site is the foundation of the new Iloilo airport with international standards and financed by none other than the government of Japan.
