F O C A L W A L L

During our brief stay at our home in Laguna, we also completed a small DIY project: a simple focal wall. We wanted it very simple so as not to overwhelm the room. Less is so much more, at least, in our opinion.

I thought we can stretch the pleated blinds down to the bottom - I was wrong. We did not buy any extra pieces so we turned to the wallpaper, and, the problem was solved.

So we stayed overnight at our 1st home which I only got to visit twice since its acquisition in 2011. My husband and I only had 7 hours to do a minimal makeover, and this kitchen top in the service area is on the list. I spent roughly 2 hours on this due to how challenging it is to work with contact paper. I eventually decided it's fine to tolerate a few creases here and there.

It is important to know that contact paper by itself won't guarantee that water won't seep in to the edges. I applied sealant to cover off all the edges and make this budget fix last long.

We also had half of the service area flooring coated with rubberized floor paint a few days before our short visit. If you are on a tight budget as we are, this is another option to save money.
