HOW TO BE GREAT IN THE EYES OF GOD
Twenty-Ninth Sunday Reflection
When we say greatness in the eyes of the world, it means power, position, prestige and money. In other words, greatness is measured by accumulation of worldy ambitions for ourselves. Sadly, It becomes an obstacle for us to see the needs of others.
However, greatness in the eyes of God means being a humble servant, being a slave of all and offering one's life for others. In others words, we become CHANNEL OF GOD'S LOVE AND MERCY.
The first reading for this Sunday, speaks about God's love through suffering. WHY WE SUFFER MUCH? It's because WE LOVE MUCH. Kaya't ang tunay na taong nagdurusa ay taong tunay na nagmamahal. And why we keep on suffering? It's because we never stop loving like the way the Lord loves us.
The two disciples James and John in the Gospel, look at discipleship as the way the world look at greatness. But Jesus taught them that being a servant means to give up their selfishness and and to be selfless to others.
Greatness is not measured by possessions. It is measured by how much love we put in serving others. NAWA'Y MAKITA NATIN NA ANG TUNAY NA PAGLILINGKOD AY NAGMUMULA SA ATING GININTUANG PUSO NA NAGMAMAHAL.
A Blessed Sunday!
