Yesterday I shared the story of Tatay Nelson. He was hit by a truck and the first thing he said was, “What will I do now, I don’t have money to pay the hospital?”
Instead of being brought to the hospital, he was taken to a pedicab shop and given only ₱3,000 to settle. Sobrang mali.
I got to know him more. He is a simple man earning only ₱100 a day, doing everything to provide. His wife also needs medical care. He is the type of man who worries more about his family than himself. That’s the kind of heart he has.
He’s okay now, waiting for test results. We’ll help him with a new livelihood, build their house, and provide groceries and medicines.
So far, we’ve raised ₱60k plus ₱130k through Ms. Inday Faith, and more from others. Maraming salamat sa lahat ng tumulong.
This is still just a band-aid solution. May the time come when no Filipino has to think about money first before getting help. And if the system failed him, at least we proved people can step up for one another.
