A small office.
Nothing grand. Nothing impressive. But inside this small space, were dreams that were a little bit bigger than the room itself.
More than 15 years ago, we only had so little. No grand conventions. No long list of awards. No thousands of people carrying the Filipino Homes name. Just a small group of people, with so little resources, a few developers willing to give us a chance, and a dream that some thought was simply too ambitious.
There were people who doubted us. Many even laughed at what we wanted to accomplish.
But we kept going. One client, one sale, one developer who trusted us. And most interestingly, one broker, Boss Anthony Leuterio who decided to believe.
This one, tiny nook that could only accommodate less than 10 people, saw it all. The difficult conversations. The disappointments. The small victories that meant everything to us at the time.
That is why we are not ashamed where we came from. We are proud of it.
Because great things do not always begin in great places. Sometimes, they begin in small rooms, with very little, and with people who simply refuse to give up.
Yet, over the years, Filipino Homes is still far from perfect. We have made mistakes, made difficult decisions, and learned some lessons the hard way. We still have much to improve.
Perhaps, that is also why many of us have stayed. We have grown together battling the toughest situations and ever hopeful that things will always fall into place later.
We still remember our first National Convention: barbecue, spaghetti, lechon, puso, p**o kutsinta. That was it! And nobody complained.
If someone had told us then that one day our convention would become what it is today, we probably would not have believed them.
Today, people even call it the โOscars of Real Estate. " But the lights, awards, stages and celebrations are not really the heart of the story. The heart of the story is the people.
The brokers and salespersons who stayed when there was very little to celebrate. The leaders who kept learning. The clients who trusted us with their homes and investments and the people who came along the way and decided to become part of something bigger than themselves.
We have also tried to make our work mean more than selling property. We support Filipino athletes. We serve communities. We help showcase destinations and developments across the country. We use our own resources to promote the places and people that make the Philippines worth coming home to. Because when communities grow, opportunities grow.
And when the Philippines grows, we grow with it.
More than 15 years cannot be told in one post.
The real story of Filipino Homes is not in the offices, awards, sales or properties. It is in those who persisted and resisted resignation.
The people who stayed. The people who struggled, learned, failed, tried again and celebrated together which still remains a part of our template in making it through this very challenging enterprise.
So every once in a while, we look back at this photograph...at this little office. Remembering, musing over the grim and the not so grim part of our history.
And before the lights, before the awards, before the conventions, there was this handful of people with almost nothing, carrying only with them their courage and tenacity with little or no assurance of victory.
One audacious dream that did not wait until we became big to dream big. We dreamed big while we were still small though at times we thought they were too much.
And yet, we never stopped.
To Boss Anthony Leuterio ...
