4th Mandaue–Mactan Bridge Project Moves Toward 2026 Construction
A major infrastructure project is set to reshape transportation across Metro Cebu as plans for the 4th Mandaue–Mactan Bridge move forward, aiming to connect the cities of Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu to the northern municipalities of Liloan and Consolacion.
Envisioned as the most expansive bridge network in Cebu to date, the project will not only span the channel between mainland Cebu and Mactan Island but also integrate a wide system of roads designed to improve traffic flow and regional accessibility.
Expanding Connectivity Across Key Growth Areas
The bridge will serve as a critical link between major economic and residential zones. It is planned to connect the Mandani Bay area in Mandaue City to Liloan and Consolacion through the Mandaue Bypass Road and Diversion Road network.
In addition, a direct route from Cansaga to Lapu-Lapu City will be established via the Mandaue Coastal Road, creating a seamless corridor that is expected to reduce congestion on existing bridges.
Officials say the integrated road system is designed to address long-standing traffic bottlenecks while opening new development corridors in northern Metro Cebu.
Construction Timeline
Construction of the project is targeted to begin in the third quarter of 2026, pending the completion of final engineering designs and alignment plans.
The full project will be officially known as the:
Cebu–Mactan 4th Bridge with Mandaue–Consolacion–Liloan Diversion Road and Mandaue Coastal Road
Boosting Mobility and Economic Growth
Beyond easing daily traffic, the bridge is expected to deliver long-term benefits, including improved regional mobility, increased investment opportunities, and better access to key commercial and tourism areas.
Urban planners also see the project as a vital step in strengthening Cebu’s role as a major economic hub in the Visayas, supporting both population growth and expanding industries.
Once completed, the 4th Mandaue–Mactan Bridge is projected to become a new gateway between Cebu and Mactan—enhancing connectivity, reducing travel time, and driving future development across the region.
