Metro Cebuโs skyline emerges more clearly as air quality shows gradual improvement on April 21, 2026. The Air Quality Index (AQI) dropped to 139, lowering the classification from โVery Unhealthyโ to โUnhealthy for Sensitive Groups,โ following days of dense haze, Environmental Management Bureau Central Visayas reports.
The improvement is attributed to stronger local winds that helped disperse trapped pollutants and break up stagnant air across the metropolitan area. Data from Talisay City indicates declining PM2.5 levels, while Toledo City continues to record โGoodโ air quality.
Despite the clearer skies, authorities advise caution. Sensitive groups, including children, the elderly, and individuals with respiratory or heart conditions, are urged to limit prolonged outdoor exposure, while the general public is encouraged to remain alert for any discomfort. The use of N95 or KN95 masks is still recommended for those at higher risk as monitoring continues. | via Maxwell John Bongo
