ILOCOS SUR MARPSTA ATTENDS STATE OF THE HERITAGE PROVINCE ADDRESS

Personnel of the Ilocos Sur Maritime Police Station (MARPSTA), led by PLT DEXTER A PE BENITO, Officer-in-Charge, together with PSMS JASON V AGAPINAN, SESPO, attended the State of the Heritage Province Address (SOHPA) delivered by Hon. Jeremias C. Singson, Governor of Ilocos Sur, held at the Chavit Coliseum, Vigan City, Ilocos Sur.

The activity was also attended by PCOL AGOSTO M ASUNCION, Provincial Director, Ilocos Sur Police Provincial Office, provincial government officials, representatives from national government agencies, local chief executives, uniformed personnel, and other stakeholders.

The SOHPA highlighted the accomplishments, ongoing programs, development initiatives, and priority projects of the Provincial Government of Ilocos Sur, as well as its vision and strategic direction for the continued development and advancement of the province.

The participation of Ilocos Sur MARPSTA underscores its commitment to strengthening inter-agency coordination and partnership with the provincial government and other stakeholders in promoting peace, security, public safety, and sustainable development in Ilocos Sur.

SAN ESTEBAN MARITIME LAW ENFORCEMENT TEAM APPREHENDS INDIVIDUAL FOR VIOLATION OF PD 705 "REVISED FORESTRY CODE OF THE PHILIPPINES”
As part of its intensified environmental law enforcement efforts, personnel of the San Esteban Maritime Law Enforcement Team (MLET), together with personnel from Ilocos Sur Maritime Police Station (MARPSTA), Cabugao MLET, and the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO)-DENR Tagudin, successfully conducted a joint police operation on July 27, 2026 in Brgy. Remedios, Cervantes, Ilocos Sur.

The operation resulted in the apprehension of one (1) individual who was allegedly caught clearing a portion of forest land using a payloader without the necessary permit, in violation of Section 69 of Presidential Decree No. 705 (Revised Forestry Code of the Philippines), otherwise known as Unlawful Occupation or Destruction of Forest Lands.

Confiscated during the operation was one (1) payloader, marked STD 10, bearing Engine No. 80D01 CSP-2 and Chassis No. 1611-52973 CK 2, which was allegedly used in the commission of the offense.

The apprehended individual was brought to San Esteban MLET for documentation and proper disposition. Thereafter, the individual and the confiscated equipment will be turned over to CENRO-DENR Tagudin, Ilocos Sur for adjudication and other appropriate legal proceedings.

The Maritime Group remains steadfast in its commitment to protecting the country’s forest resources through strengthened inter-agency cooperation and the strict enforcement of environmental laws to preserve and safeguard the nation’s natural resources.
