GOOD NEWS! ๐
The Samal Island-Davao City Connector (SIDC) Project, a flagship infrastructure initiative under the โBuild, Build, Buildโ program of former President Rodrigo Duterte, has surpassed the halfway markโfurther strengthening Davao Regionโs growth trajectory.
Data from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) show the project reached over 53% completion as of February 25, 2026, exceeding its target and reflecting faster-than-expected progress.
The project continues to demonstrate strong economic viability, reinforcing its role as a transformative investment for Davao, particularly in enhancing connectivity and unlocking tourism and business opportunities.
Once completed, the bridge will directly link Davao City to the Island Garden City of Samal through a nearly four-kilometer, four-lane cable-stayed structure across the Pakiputan Straitโcutting travel time from up to 50 minutes to just around five minutes.
The bridge is expected to be a game-changer for the region, improving mobility, boosting tourism, facilitating trade, and providing faster access to essential services.
While timeline adjustments and funding requirements remain key considerations, the projectโs solid progress and clear economic benefits highlight the importance of sustained support to ensure its completion.
With momentum building, the Samal-Davao Bridge stands as a symbol of continued infrastructure development and economic strength in Davao Region.
