The Bucana Bridge in Davao City is shaping up to be one of the most beautiful and iconic sea/coastal bridges in Mindanao. Here are some of its standout features + what makes it special:

What is the Bucana Bridge
• It’s part of the Davao City Coastal Road Bypass and spans the Davao River, connecting Bucana (on the west coast) to Matina Aplaya (east coast) across the river.
• Total length is about 1,340 meters, including the approach roads. The bridge span itself is roughly 480.20 meters.

Design & Aesthetics
• It has a four-lane, six-span extradosed bridge structure. “Extradosed” means it’s sort of a hybrid between a girder bridge and a cable-stayed bridge, giving it both strength and an elegant profile.
• The pylons are ~19.5 meters high, which gives the bridge vertical prominence without being overly tall.

Function & Significance
• It’s expected to handle about 35,000 vehicles daily once operational, easing traffic and providing a faster route across the coastal areas.
• Not just functional — it’s becoming a landmark for Davao, both for its structural design and as a symbol of modern infrastructure growth there.
