FRIDAY MUSINGS:
People's Park Renovation: A New Chapter for a Davao Icon 🌳🌴
For many Dabawenyos, People's Park has been part of the city for years - one of those places where we've taken walks, enjoyed the shade, brought family and friends, and simply spent time outdoors.
Now, with the planned Php 100-million repair and renovation (matud pa sa balita - a 2025-news item by PIA), it's exciting to see this beloved public space getting a much-needed upgrade.
Renovation is certainly a welcome development. The park has been around for years and naturally needs repairs and improvements. But hopefully, as the plans move forward, the trees and greenery will remain a major part of the design.
Trees take years to grow. They provide shade, help cool the surroundings, and are a big part of what makes People's Park a relaxing place.
If the layout needs to change, hopefully the design can work around existing mature trees as much as possible, rather than removing them simply to make construction easier (of course, I doubt they would do the latter).
A ₱100-million renovation is a great opportunity to give People's Park a fresh and exciting new chapter - for dabawenyos and visitors.
Here's to a more improved, safer, and beautifully renewed People's Park - while keeping the trees and natural character intact! 🥰👍
