LOOK | SAMAL ISLAND–DAVAO CITY CONNECTOR (SIDC) BRIDGE TAKES SHAPE AS MORE PIERS RISE IN 2026

Construction of the Samal Island–Davao City Connector (SIDC) Bridge continues to gain momentum, with more bridge piers now standing prominently along the alignment. On-site activity remains in full swing as the project’s most critical structural elements steadily come into view.

A major milestone has been reached with the two main pylons now at ground zero and beginning their vertical ascent. The installation of tower cranes marks the transition to the next phase of construction, where the two 77-meters pylons will rise to support the bridge’s main span—signaling visible progress on the bridge’s defining features.

The ₱23.039-billion, toll-free, four-lane bridge will stretch 4.76 kilometers, with a 24-meter width and 47-meter navigational clearance. Once completed in 2028, it will become the longest bridge in Mindanao, cutting travel time between Davao City and Samal Island from approximately 55 minutes by ferry to just 4.5 minutes.

Beyond faster travel, the SIDC Bridge is set to strengthen Metro Davao’s economy by improving connectivity, supporting tourism, enhancing logistics, and opening doors for new investments. With each pier and rising pylon, the project moves closer to transforming regional mobility and standing as a landmark infrastructure achievement for Mindanao.
