Building a cleaner and Proper Waste Disposal for LGU Tampakan. ♻️🏗️

The R2R Construction team successfully conducted the plenary presentation of the Operations and Maintenance Manual (OMM) for the Tampakan Category 1 Sanitary Landfill Facility with the Technical Working Group and Barangay Officials. On the same day, in-situ hydraulic conductivity testing was carried out and witnessed by MENRO Eileen Estrada and MPDC Mercy Mangunlay.

This Category 1 Sanitary Landfill is a vital environmental infrastructure mandated under Republic Act No. 9003 as the final disposal facility for residual waste.

We commend the visionary leadership of the Local Government Unit of Tampakan, whose commitment to environmental protection and public health is transforming this important project into a lasting legacy for future generations.

Together, we are turning responsible waste management into a reality. 🌱🇵🇭

Sad reality: Coastal pollution is not caused by industries alone. Our own households may be contributing even more to the degradation of the very paradise we claim to love.

One of the most effective solutions is the establishment of a proper sewerage and septage treatment facility, as mandated under Republic Act No. 9275, the Clean Water Act of 2004. Protecting our seas begins at home—through responsible wastewater management, proper sanitation, and collective action.

El Nido welcomed 500,000 tourists in 2023. Its waters now consistently test above safe f***l coliform limits. Only 30 out of 900 households in the town center are connected to any sewage system. The Bacuit Archipelago has been called the most beautiful place in the Philippines. It is being loved to death — and 354 mining applications sit approved across Palawan's forests.

Tampakan Sanitary Landfill Ready for Turnover 💪

A joint site visit to the Sanitary Landfill Facility (SLF) in Tampakan, South Cotabato, was recently conducted by the DENR-EMB Region XII, together with the Engineering Office, Planning Office and MENRO of the LGU. The landfill facility is now ready for turnover, marking a major milestone as it prepares to become fully operational.

As an ISO 9001:2015 certified company, R2R Construction designs, builds, and devlops SLFs as a mandatory requirement for all local government units in the Philippines. These facilities provide a proper site for the final disposal of residual waste, helping maintain cleaner communities and protect the environment for the years ahead.

For experts, lives were lost due to a lack of regulation and adherence to fundamental environmental safeguards. Those responsible, they argued, must be held accountable.

A meaningful step forward. The R2R Team conducted a courtesy visit to Hon. Mayor James Reganit of Maitum to discuss the proposed sanitary landfill project—anchored on sustainability and environmental protection.

Maitum, blessed with white sand beaches, abundant natural resources, and known for its bangsi (flying fish) and water adventures, deserves solutions that preserve its beauty for generations to come. 🌱🌊

DILG to LGUS: Don't issue business permit to establishments without STP or septic tank system.

READ | To prevent the further degradation of the country’s waterways just like what happened to Manila Bay and its tributaries, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) is urging local government units (LGUs) not to issue building permits to establishments unless their design of the hygienic septic tank or wastewater treatment facility conforms with existing environmental laws and policies.
