LANANG ASCENDING: SM LANANG PREMIER EXPANSION ANCHORS DAVAO’S NEXT CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT (CBD)
Davao City, Philippines — The northern corridor of Davao City is experiencing a development surge as SM Prime Holdings prepares to break ground on the expansion of SM Lanang Premier, a move set to position the area as the city’s next premier central business district (CBD).
Building on the success of SM City Davao's recent expansion—the largest mall in Mindanao—SM Lanang Premier is slated to grow into a 266,000 sqm integrated lifestyle and commercial complex by 2028, making it one of the top three largest malls in Davao City.
Expansion Components:
North Wing: An enlarged SMX Convention Center to accommodate national and international MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions) events.
East Wing: Development of two 15-storey BPO towers and a new multi-level parking structure, expanding Davao’s capacity to attract and retain outsourcing firms.
West Wing: Retail and leisure enhancements on the SM Store side, creating new spaces for global and homegrown brands.
Park Inn by Radisson: Upgraded hospitality facilities aligned with the city’s growing tourism and business travel demand.
Following a successful public scoping on September 29, 2025, construction is set to begin by July 2026.
Urban Synergy: A Growing Business Ecosystem
Strategically located at the heart of Lanang, SM Lanang’s expansion is just one part of a broader transformation. Adjacent and complementary developments are reshaping this northern district into a fully integrated, mixed-use urban core.
Just a few blocks away, Megaworld’s Davao Park District is rising as a high-value, 11-hectare township featuring corporate towers, upscale residential projects, retail centers, and green spaces—all master-planned to promote work-live-play dynamics. The township is drawing both multinational firms and residential buyers, attracted by the district's urban convenience and strong growth fundamentals.
Destine Towers and Damosa Gateway: Strategic Synergy
Meanwhile, Weecom’s Destine Towers, a three-tower vertical residential development, is rising beside the Damosa Gateway complex—one of Lanang’s pioneering business and lifestyle hubs. The Damosa Gateway, developed by Anflo Management and Investment Corporation (ANFLOCOR), has steadily evolved into a key mixed-use estate, featuring:
Grade-A office spaces (including Damosa IT Park, the first PEZA-accredited IT park in Mindanao)
Retail and dining strips
A hotel
Open civic spaces and green zones
This synergy between Destine Towers and Damosa Gateway creates a live-work lifestyle ecosystem, offering seamless proximity to workplaces, lifestyle destinations, and transportation networks. It also places investors and residents within minutes of major developments like SM Lanang, the airport, and the Port of Davao.
With the presence of SMDC residential projects, Weecom, Megaworld, and the continuing evolution of Damosa Gateway, the Lanang district is now clearly positioning itself as Davao’s fastest-rising business and lifestyle corridor—poised to rival traditional urban centers in Metro Manila in both form and function.
