The overall residential electricity rate for the billing period July 11 to August 10, 2026, increased by Php0.78 per kilowatt-hour (kWh), bringing the rate to Php13.09/kWh, from Php12.30/kWh in the previous billing period.

The increase was mainly driven by higher generation charges, particularly the higher cost of electricity purchased from the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM). Higher market prices were mainly due to the outage of several major power plants across the country. In addition, some generating facilities were affected by the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck Southern Mindanao on June 8, 2026, while others were undergoing scheduled maintenance or experienced forced outages. Together, these events reduced the available electricity supply while demand remained relatively high, resulting in tighter supply conditions and higher market prices.

We encourage our customers to continue practicing energy-efficient habits to help manage their electricity consumption and monthly bills.

The overall residential rate of Davao Light this June 2026 is at P12.30 per kilowatt-hour (kWh), reflecting a P1.95/kWh increase from last month’s rate of P10.35/kWh. This rate applies to electricity bills received from June 11 to July 10, 2026.

The rate adjustment is attributed to higher prices from the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) due to tight power supply conditions brought about by multiple power plant outages.

The power distribution utility reminds customers that market prices are volatile, resulting in monthly changes in power rates. Davao Light encourages customers to practice energy efficiency to help manage electricity bills.

The overall residential electricity rate this January 2026 is at P11.7187 per kilowatt-hour (kWh), reflecting a P2.0052/kWh increase from last December’s rate of P9.7135/kWh, due to higher power supply prices from the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) caused by several power plant outages in the previous month. Additionally, the implementation of the new government charge, the Green Energy Auction Allowance (GEA-All) under the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) Case No. 2025-127 RC dated December 26, 2025, contributed to the overall increase.

This rate applies to bills received from January 11 to February 10, 2026.

Davao Light encourages customers to practice energy efficiency to help manage electricity bills.
