We want to give you a quick heads-up regarding our electricity bills for this month.
ZANECO recently issued an advisory stating that electricity rates for July 2026 are expected to increase to β±14.81 per kWh.
Why is it increasing?
The increase is due to higher generation costs from the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM). This is a direct pass-through cost from the power suppliers, meaning the price hike is coming straight from the market supply and is outside of ZANECO's control.
To help manage your expenses this month, we highly encourage everyone to practice a few energy-saving habits:
- Turn off lights and appliances when you leave a room.
- Unplug electronics and chargers when they aren't in use.
- Switch to energy-efficient LED bulbs where possible.

We would like to inform our valued Residential Member-Consumer-Owners (MCOs) that the July 2026 power rate is expected to increase to β±14.81 per kWh. We sincerely apologize for this increase and understand the concern it may cause.
This increase is mainly driven by the higher generation cost resulting from the significant rise in electricity prices in the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM). The generation charge is beyond our direct control as it reflects the actual cost of power purchased from electricity suppliers and a pass-through charge, meaning it is not retained as income by ZANECO.
We understand that this increase may place an additional financial burden on many households and businesses. We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding during this challenging period.
At present, eventhough we are faced with a difficult and challenging situation, ZANECO continues to procure the electricity needed to maintain a stable and reliable service for our member-consumers. We believe that uninterrupted power is essential to support our homes, businesses, schools, hospitals, and other vital institutions throughout our franchise area.
Please be assured that despite the expected increase ZANECO will double its effort to remain committed to providing reliable, efficient, and responsive electric service. We will continue to pursue cost-efficient operations, strengthen our systems, and responsibly manage resources to ensure the best possible service for all our MCOs.
We also encourage everyone to practice energy conservation. Simple measures such as turning off unused lights and appliances, using LED bulbs, unplugging idle devices, and using electricity wisely can help reduce monthly electricity consumption.
