Tournament Mechanics
Team Composition:
o Each team consists of 3 players on the court (Tekong, Left Inside, and Right Inside).
o 1 substitute player is allowed per team.
Game Format:
o The tournament follows a double-elimination
o Matches consist of best-of-three sets.
o A set is won by the first team to reach 15 points. If tied at 14-14, play continues until one team reaches 17 points.
Service Rotation:
o Teams alternate serves.
o The Tekong serves the ball, with service faults penalized by point forfeiture.
Game Equipment:
o The official Sepak Takraw ball will be used.
o The net must meet standard height requirements:
Men’s Division: 1.52 meters.
Rules of the Game
Starting Play:
o A coin toss determines which team serves first or chooses the side of the court.
Scoring System:
o Rally point scoring is used. Points are awarded for every fault or legal ball landing in the opponent’s court.
Ball Handling:
o Players may use their head, chest, feet, and knees to strike the ball.
o Hands and arms cannot be used to hit the ball.
Faults:
o The ball lands outside the court boundaries.
o A player touches the net during play.
o A team takes more than 3 touches before sending the ball over the net.
o The ball does not cross the net.
Player Conduct:
o Unsportsmanlike behavior, such as arguing with referees, results in a warning or disqualification.
Substitution Rules:
o Each team is allowed 1 substitution per set.
Timeouts:
o Each team is allowed 1 timeout per set lasting 1 minute.
