Today, our Filipino Muslim brothers and sisters from across the archipelago gather to celebrate Eidโl Adha (the Feast of Sacrifice). But what truly happens during this sacred holiday, and why does it hold such a special place in our hearts?

Eidโl Adha commemorates the story of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham), who demonstrated absolute devotion when he stood ready to sacrifice his beloved son, Ishmael, in obedience to God's command. Seeing his unwavering faith, God mercifully intervened at the final moment and provided a ram to be sacrificed instead.
This narrative stands as a timeless reminder that true faith requires selflessness, trust, and a willingness to put the greater good above our own desires.

The day begins at dawn as Filipino Muslims dress in their finest attire and head to mosques or open-air fieldsโfrom the Golden Mosque in Manila to the historic worship grounds across Mindanaoโfor congregational prayers (Salat al-Eid). Afterward, they listen to a sermon (Khutbah). It is a beautiful time of family reunions, peaceful reflection, and vibrant community greetings.

A central pillar of the celebration is the ritual known as Qurbani (or Udhiyah), which represents the sacrifice made by Prophet Ibrahim. Here is how it works:
๐๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐๐ฆ๐ญ๐ฆ๐ค๐ต๐ช๐ฐ๐ฏ: Muslims who can afford it purchase a healthy livestock animalโtypically a goat, sheep, cow, or carabao in the Philippines.
๐๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐๐ค๐ต: The animal is sacrificed humanely, with deep respect and prayers, adhering strictly to Islamic dietary laws (Halal).
๐๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐๐ช๐ด๐ต๐ณ๐ช๐ฃ๐ถ๐ต๐ช๐ฐ๐ฏ: The meat is never kept entirely for oneself. Traditionally, it is divided into three equal parts:
One-third goes to the family.
One-third is shared with friends, relatives, and neighbors.
One-third is gifted directly to the poor, orphans, and less fortunate families.

In the Philippines, this practice of distributing meat beautifully mirrors our own culture of bayanihan. It bridges gaps, ensures that no family goes hungry on this festive day, and fosters an environment of pure charity and mutual respect, regardless of social status.
On this blessed occasion, Plethora Homes Realty wishes our valued clients, partners, and the entire Filipino Muslim community a peaceful, meaningful, and joyful celebration.
