LRT 1 CAVITE Extension

LRT-1 CAVITE EXTENSION PHASE 2 TO BEGIN THIS YEAR — DOTr

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has assured that construction of Phase 2 of the LRT-1 Cavite Extension Project will begin within the year.

Acting Secretary Giovanni Lopez said the ₱64.9-billion project is set to commence before the end of 2026. The expansion will add 11.7 kilometers of rail and eight new stations from Parañaque to Bacoor, Cavite.

The project has faced delays due to right-of-way issues, which are expected to be resolved once a memorandum of agreement among concerned agencies and private partners is signed this September.

Meanwhile, Rep. Mark Anthony Santos emphasized the urgency of starting construction, noting that it will help ease heavy traffic and improve travel time for commuters from Cavite and southern Metro Manila.
