Major Aviation Gateway Rising in Cavite: Sangley Airport Moves Forward
Cavite’s next major growth driver is gaining momentum as the United States Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) backs the feasibility study for the proposed Sangley Point International Airport.
The study will be conducted for Cavitex Holdings Inc., the local developer leading the project consortium, with California-based The S-A-P Group LLC tapped to provide technical analysis.
This phase will assess key components of the airport development, including projected passenger demand, cargo potential, financial viability, and security requirements for future international operations.
Planned within the former naval base in Sangley Point, the airport is envisioned to become a strategic gateway that will help decongest Metro Manila’s existing air infrastructure while supporting stronger regional and transpacific connectivity.
The project also forms part of the broader Luzon Economic Corridor, highlighting Cavite’s growing role in infrastructure, logistics, investment, and long-term economic expansion.
Although the final development cost will depend on the results of the study, previous estimates place the multi-phase project at over ₱500 billion.
Once completed, Sangley Airport is expected to handle both passenger and cargo traffic, positioning Cavite as one of the country’s most important future aviation and logistics hubs.
