Seventy-seven years ago, Kidapawan was made into a municipality. To mark this occasion and to help you celebrate, we are making available online an updated edition of the '𝐊𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐧 𝐇𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲: 𝐀 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐫' by City Historian Karlo Antonio Galay David.

First published by the local government in 2018, this primer will take you on a journey to explore the people, the places, and the events that define our beloved town's rich history. 🔎🌲

We share this primer today as it was on this day in 1947 when President Manuel Roxas signed Executive Order No. 82, creating the municipality of Kidapawan. Aside from Kidapawan, EO 82 of 1947 also created nine other municipalities in the then Cotabato province, namely Kabakan, Koronadal, Buayan (now General Santos City), Pagalungan, Parang, Nuling, Kiamba, Buluan, and Dinaig (now Datu Odin Sinsuat).

Meanwhile, while Kidapawan was made a municipality in 1947, we also note that its history dates back much further. 🗓️

'Kidaputik' by Jhonrey Balane, The Inaugural Masbad Mural, has been featured on Manila Bulletin Lifestyle!

We are pleased to be home to Kidapawan's first nationally featured mural.

It is the largest soil mural in Mindanao, and among the largest footprint mural in the world.
