STS UWAN (FUNG-WONG) ADVISORY NO. 01

Severe Tropical Storm UWAN (FUNG-WONG) is now on the verge of entering the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) as it begins to accelerate westward toward the coastal waters of the Northern Bicol Region. It is expected to rapidly intensify into a Typhoon later tonight.
48-hr Outlook: STS UWAN will continue accelerating west to west-northwest and is forecast to become a Category 4 Typhoon with 1-minute sustained winds of 215 kph. By Sunday afternoon (Nov 09), the system’s core is projected to pass approximately 210 km north of Naga City, bringing:
• Tropical storm-force wind gusts: 60–100 kph (more than 100 kph along Partido District, Camarines Norte, Eastern Albay, and Catanduanes).
• 24-hour rainfall: 50–200 mm across the Bicol Region.
Residents along the projected path—especially those across Luzon and Samar—are advised to prepare for heavy rain, gusty winds, and possible flooding.
