🌞 PUBLIC HEALTH ADVISORY: HEAT-RELATED ILLNESSES

In light of the continuously rising temperatures, the public is strongly advised to take necessary precautions against heat related illnesses. Prolonged exposure to extreme heat may lead to conditions such as heat exhaustion or heat stroke, which can pose serious health risks if not addressed promptly.

Everyone is encouraged to remain vigilant and recognize early warning signs, including dizziness, excessive sweating, fatigue, headache, and nausea.

To help prevent and manage heat-related conditions, please observe the following first aid measures:
• Drink cool water regularly to stay hydrated.
• Stay in shaded or well-ventilated areas whenever possible.
• Wear light and comfortable clothing; remove unnecessary or tight garments.
• Apply a cold compress or use a damp cloth to help lower body temperature.
• Seek immediate medical assistance if symptoms persist or worsen.

Let us all take proactive steps to protect ourselves and our loved ones during this period of extreme heat.

1st PDRRM Council Meeting

Location of Center (10:00 PM):
The center of Tropical Depression BASYANG was estimated based on all available data in the vicinity of Ayungon, Negros Oriental (9.8°N, 123.0°E).

Intensity:
Maximum sustained winds of 45 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 60 km/h, and central pressure of 1004 hPa

Present Movement:
Westward Slowly

Extent of Tropical Cyclone Winds:
Strong winds extend outwards up to 250 km from the center

Severe Winds
The wind signals warn the public of the general wind threat over an area due to the tropical cyclone. Local winds may be slightly stronger/enhanced in coastal and upland/mountainous areas exposed to winds. Winds are less strong in areas sheltered from the prevailing wind direction.

• Minimal to minor impacts from strong winds are possible within any of the areas under Wind Signal No. 1.

The surge of the Northeast Monsoon will also bring strong to gale-force gusts over the following areas (especially in coastal and upland areas exposed to winds):

• Today: Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Bicol Region, Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Romblon, Marinduque, northern Palawan, Cuyo Islands, Visayas, , Sarangani, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Davao del Sur, and Davao Oriental.
• Tomorrow (07 February): Most of Luzon, Western Visayas, most of Negros Island Region, and Zamboanga del Norte.
• Sunday (08 February): Most of Luzon and Western Visayas.

HAZARDS AFFECTING COASTAL WATERS
24-Hour Sea Condition Outlook
Up to very rough seas over the following coastal waters:
• Up to 4.5 m: The seaboards of Batanes
• Sea travel is risky for all types or tonnage of vessels. All mariners must remain in port or, if underway, seek shelter or safe harbor as soon as possible until winds and waves subside.

Up to rough seas over the following coastal waters:
• Up to 4.0 m: The seaboards of Babuyan Islands
• Up to 3.0 m: The western seaboard of Ilocos Norte; the seaboard of Ilocos Sur; the northern seaboard of Camarines Norte and Camarines Sur; the northern and eastern seaboards of Northern Samar; the eastern seaboards of Polillo Islands, Albay, Sorsogon, Eastern Samar, Dinagat Islands, and Siargao and Bucas-Grande Islands.
• Mariners of small seacrafts, including all types of motorbancas, are advised not to venture out to sea under these conditions, especially if inexperienced or operating ill-equipped vessels.

Up to moderate seas over the following coastal waters:
• Up to 2.5 m: The seaboards of Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, northern Quezon, Antique, southern Iloilo, and southern Negros Occidental; the northern seaboard of Polillo Islands and Ilocos Norte; the eastern seaboard of Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Davao Oriental; the remaining seaboards of Ilocos Region.
• Up to 2.0 m: The seaboards of Romblon, Aklan, Capiz, Guimaras, southern Negros Oriental, and southern Cebu; the western and southern seaboards of Bohol; the northern seaboard of Zamboangal del Norte; the eastern seaboard of Davao Occidental.
• Mariners of motorbancas and similarly sized vessels are advised to take precautionary measures while venturing out to sea and, if possible, avoid navigation under these conditions.

Other coastal waters have forecast wave heights of less than 2.0 m.

TRACK AND INTENSITY OUTLOOK
• It must be emphasized that heavy rainfall and severe winds may still be experienced in localities outside the landfall point and the forecast confidence cone. Refer to “Other Hazards affecting Land Areas” for more details. Furthermore, the track may still shift within the limit of the forecast confidence cone.
• BASYANG is forecast to continue moving generally west northwestward throughout the forecast period. On the forecast track, the center of BASYANG will traverse Negros Island Region between tonight and tomorrow (07 February) early morning. Afterwards, it will head towards the southern portion of Panay Island or over Panay Gulf.
• BASYANG will weaken into a low pressure area in the next 12 hours.

Considering these developments, the public and disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned are advised to take all necessary measures to protect life and property. Persons living in areas identified to be highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards are advised to follow evacuation and other instructions from local officials. For heavy rainfall warnings, thunderstorm/rainfall advisories, and other severe weather information specific to your area, please monitor products issued by your local PAGASA Regional Services Division.

The next tropical cyclone bulletin will be issued at 2:00 AM tomorrow.
