Ayala Corporation calls on the public to exercise utmost vigilance amid the proliferation of deepfakes using the name and likeness of its Chairman Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala.
Various social media pages have been exploiting the Ayala name to promote questionable investment schemes, enticing the public with hefty returns. Ayala is not associated with, nor does it endorse, such investment opportunities.
We urge the public to be wary of offers they see online, especially opportunities that sound too good to be true. Do not engage with these posts.
Fact-check these pages by taking the following steps:
-Check if the page is verified- Pages with the blue verification check have been vetted by Facebook and are usually legitimate. Be extra careful when dealing with unverified pages.
-Check the page name- Scam pages may have misspelled or extra characters in their names in an attempt to dupe legitimate brands.
-Examine the content- Scam pages usually share clickbait posts that do not look professional or credible. They also have vague contact information or lack these details altogether.
-Look at the page’s activity history- If the page was just recently created and has spikes in activity, it might be fake.
We again call on the public to report these pages for misleading content.
Ayala only shares official communication on its corporate website and social media pages, including the Ayala Corporation page, WeAreAyala on Instagram, and Ayala Corporation on LinkedIn.
