~~a story of dreams and redirection~~
A good friend and former officemate in Alveo sent this photo to me today. They saw this Portico flier at the office.. not sure if Solaris One, hehe.
10 years ago, I was a Property Investment Consultant in Alveo. My Father came from a real estate background so sabi niya subukan mo. Sinubukan ko mag ahente after a short stint in publishing. In all fairness madaming learnings sa sales because you’ll meet different kinds of people and challenging paano mag deal with them. After three months, I closed my very first sale, which is a residential lot in Nuvali. Then second was a condo unit in BGC and followed by a condo unit in Circuit Makati. Those sales sa totoo lang, walang galing sa saturation or manning, mga dati nang kakilala at isa doon eh sa matalik na kaibigan pa. Kahit makita ako ng mga kaklase ko nung college na namimigay ng flier, di ko yan kinahiya.
When I got the commission, ay sabi ko in fairness life changing. Pero hindi nasustain. Matagal ako walang benta. You deal with rejections, prospects and relationships.
Hindi ako sinwerte sa manning haha! Anyways, madami ako natutunan diyan sa Alveo. Isa yan sa masasayang chapter kasi mababait mga nakatrabaho ko diyan. Suzy, Bambi and Gerald were great mentors. I guess sa sales you really have to be determined. But you know after 2 years I left. I went back to Comms and eventually pursued Content Creation.
Even content creation wasn’t really a dream. I wanted to be a Broadcaster that’s why I took Comm Arts. Nangyari ba? Hindi. Haha!
My point is, in life you have to experience the unusual… yung hindi mo forte. At least once and see kung para sa iyo. Now I’m doing content on social media and you see it’s kinda changing and this time I want to pursue my passion, automotive.
Yung mga fliers na pinamimigay namin sa mall, or winawagayway sa SLEX exit, yes it’s a piece of paper.
But that piece of paper could be a fulfillment of a dream. A dream to have a home or a dream to change your life.
So to Liven and Marge, thank you that you saw this flier after 10 years. I still remember the good days. 💕
