🚨 A Different Kind of Emergency

A Barangay PTV was seen passing through the exclusive EDSA bus lane with its emergency lights and sirens activated.

When DOTr–SAICT flagged down the vehicle for what was meant to be a brief routine verification, the driver explained that he had no patient and that the “emergency” was his need to use the toilet.

Enforcers issued a penalty ticket and reminded the driver that there are multiple gas stations along EDSA with available restroom facilities.

🚨 LTO impounds motorcycle after chase - following alleged Busway violation

According to the LTO, a motorcycle rider was flagged down yesterday morning, January 21, after allegedly being seen inside the exclusive EDSA Busway near Shaw Blvd.

The agency says the rider did not stop when flagged and instead attempted to flee, leading to a chase before authorities were able to catch up.

During the inspection, the LTO reported several additional issues: a broken panel gauge, a defective plate light, and - most notably - no plate attached to the motorcycle.

That lack of a plate is significant because, while NCAP cameras would still capture the motorcycle passing through the Busway, they wouldn’t be able to identify it or issue any penalty to deter a repeat performance. Unfortunately, vehicles without plates - or with plates that can’t be read - are a somewhat common sight inside the exclusive Busway.

The motorcycle was impounded for documentation and further action. The LTO also reiterated its reminder that the Busway is strictly for buses and should not be used by private vehicles.
