Alliance Global Group continues to champion sustainability across its global portfolio of companies by introducing innovations that drive responsible consumption and production. Whyte and Mackay, the producer of internationally recognized single malt scotch whiskies The Dalmore, Jura, Fettercairn, and Tamnavulin Whiskey, is implementing the Scottish Oak Programme, which promotes the use of native wood in spirits maturation.
Under the initiative, Whyte & McKay will source homegrown Scottish oaks as an alternative to imported barrels and casks traditionally used in aging its spirits. The use of native wood is eyed to foster businesses in Scotland’s communities by tapping local suppliers and encouraging forestry-related jobs. We are also looking at exploring a diverse range of flavor profiles to produce more award-winning and world-class products under the program by supporting experimental whisky maturation.
As part of its long-term full sustainability efforts, Whyte & McKay is also in line with the Scotch Whisky Association’s goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2040 and is currently working on reaching carbon neutrality by 2030.
